Mammoth Cave National Park - Kentucky

As a national park, world heritage and biosphere reserves, Mammoth Cave is recognized worldwide as a unique resource and karst copy. Below the surface is the longest cave known to man. It extends at least 365 kilometers, with more discovered every year. On the surface there are steep hills and valleys, rivers and re-logging moved from farms and small communities that existed here before the park offers guided cave 1941.The park, camping, hiking, canoeing, picnic and walking in a forest of 52,830 hectares of hardwood, with 31 miles of Green and Nolin Rivers and 70 miles trails.Mammoth Cave Trivia1. 138 species make use of the cave on a regular basis - 42 of whom are Troglobites, adapted exclusively to life in the cave. Blind fish, shrimp and Kentucky cave shrimp are eyeless and colorless. 2. Population Mineral scraping the walls of prehistoric caves between 2,000 and 4,000 years ago and left slipper, pumpkins, torches and sticks that are perfectly preserved in constant environment of the cave. 3. In 1838, three young slaves were leased to the owner of Mammoth Cave to lead the public to visit the cave. Nick Bransford, Mat Bransford, Stephen Bishop and became well known characters and found that many of the steps that still shows today. Mammoth Cave Attractions 1. Cave tours are offered throughout the year, ranging from an easy one-mile walk 5 miles to crawl, climb, and Sliming. Black-in the total darkness of the cave where the guides specifically turning off all the lights are a favorite memory of returning visitors. Enjoy a relaxing ride in the 300-acre Big Woods, a remnant of old growth on the north side of Green River. 2.
